Robyn,
Your comments are always encouraging and insightful. You have an incredible knack for translating the complexities of brain science into lessons all of us can relate to and act on.
Thanks for the input.

Charles, thanks for thoughtfully bringing into focus how a top leader may think he or she has all the answers, but the emperor is naked. Your description of Ken Olson shows him to see himself as in touch, but truth is he sadly lagged behind, especially as it involved latest technology that might have put his company at the forefront. He empowered himself, not his employees though he said the opposite.
It's amazing that many people are not in touch with their inner beliefs - which are often opposite of their words, but actually are what others see in action. It's mind boggling that we may be out of touch with our true beliefs.
A person truly strong in intrapersonal intelligence is whole and in touch with strenghths and weaknesses. A needy person tries to compensate for weaknesses by "acting out" in interpersonal relationships.

well said. two weeks ago i was at a lecture where the speaker said he has stopped carrying his iphone into most meetings, meals, and entertainment. being present with the people around us is, in his opinion, more important than staring into a glowing handheld screen while ignoring the people around us. i couldn't agree more and have since started that practice and am more cheerful and enjoying the company of people around me.

I think you might be interested in my website,
www.hypnosisfocusgroups.com. I also use the technique in management consulting and brainstorming sessions. To a large extent my use of hypnosis in business is based on Konrad Lorenz's discovery of imprinting, which I believe is closely related to your theories about management.

Are you considering starting a blog? Do you blog but question its purpose and most useful point of view? I love this post from Charlie Jacobs, from the Management Rewired blog, called Socrates versus the Apes. Check it out. Here...

Dear Mr. Jacobs,
Thank you for writing this blog. I greatly appreciate your contribution of studied reason and moving story to make a change in our thinking of how we "manage" and motivate people. Count me in to help spread the good word, and to stay tuned.

Charles, I appreciated your visit to Brain Based Biz and now that I visit here, I can see you share information about the brain as it affects management. We have very similar interests.
I'm with you on values and ethics as it affects managment. Values impact all a manager encounters during a day at work.
Very thoughtful post.
